The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, show which servers deal with the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a given host company for your domain name is the simplest way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be handled on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so forth, if you would like to change any of these records, you're going to be able to do it via their system. To put it differently, the NS records of a domain address reveal the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to retrieve the DNS records of the domain name you want to reach. In this way the site you'll see is going to be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain address has at least 2 NS records. There isn't any practical difference between the two prefixes, so which one a web hosting provider will use depends solely on their preference.

NS Records in Website Hosting

In case you register a domain name within a website hosting account from our company, you are going to be able to control its name servers with ease. This can be done using the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel and with just a few clicks you will be able to update the NS records of a single one or even numerous domain names at the same time, which can save you a lot of time and efforts if you have a large number of domains that you'd like to direct to a different provider. You can enter many name servers depending on how many the other provider provides you with. In addition we permit you to set up private name servers for each and every domain name registered using our company and in contrast to many other companies we don't charge anything more for this service. The newly created NS records can be used to direct any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IP addresses you have used during the process, so if you use our IPs for example, all domain names added to the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are administered via Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with extremely user-friendly interface, which will permit you to control your domains easily even when you haven't used a web hosting account or a domain name previously. Changing the NS records for each domain address registered with our company, viewing the current ones and whether they are correct or not as to point that domain address to our cloud hosting platform is also quite easy and takes just several mouse clicks. You'll also be able to register child name servers under every one of your domain addresses as part of the free DNS management services that we provide with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for any domain that you accommodate in the semi-dedicated account, so if you provide services to third-parties and host their websites, using this feature is going to give you much more credibility as a business.
